The gallery is currently recruiting a part time Gallery Assistant to join the York Fine Arts team, with an aim for the successful candidate to start in mid to late September.
The successful candidate should be confident, friendly and outgoing, and easily able to engage and establish a rapport with a wide range of clients. Excellent organisational skills, computer literacy and the ability to prioritise and multitask are also essential. Previous sales and/or administration experience and an interest or background in art is desirable; but motivated individuals with an eagerness to learn will also be considered.
The varied role of Gallery Assistant encompasses a wide range of duties, so flexibility is key. Duties will include the selling and hanging of art work, payment handling, basic administration and generally assisting the Directors and Gallery Manager in the day-to-day running of the gallery. The role is primarily based at our York gallery for three days a week (and will include two Saturdays a month); but the candidate must also be willing to travel to our Harrogate gallery as required. £16,640-£18,720 per annum (£9,984-£11,232 pro rata).
