The magnificent 'A Full Broadside' depicts an incident during the Blockade of Brest in February 1809, in which three Frigates of the French Navy were chased by a British Fleet under Admiral Stopford.

During the furore, the British Frigate Naiad attacked and damaged one of the French Frigates, assumed to be the Cybele. All three French Frigatewere eventually driven ashore and destroyed by further Fleet action.
